IoT4Tourism: use the Internet of Things to create a great experience for tourists
The WISE-IoT consortium is organising a two-day Hackathon, IoT4Tourism Hackathon, which holds between 3-4 of September 2017 at the IEEE ICCE-Berlin conference, in conjunction with the IFA fair.
This two-day Hackathon will draw developers from around the globe into a team of designers and IoT engineers from WISE-IoT consortium exploring how IoT can be exploited to enhance the experience of tourists in cities, resorts and events.
The IoT4Tourism Hackathon will provide the platform for open-minded developers who will like to collaborate with the WISE-IoT consortium to create innovative
and impressive applications based on the WISE-IoT platform. The idea is for the developers to come up with their innovative ideas that create a new experience for tourists and help promote their cities and regions in the best possible ways.
The developers will have access to WISE-IoT platform tools, allowing Global IoT connectivity across IoT standards and deployments. They will have the opportunity to learn how IoT works and how to work with real-world data as well as how to use ontologies to interoperate between devices and applications across IoT platforms. The Hackathon addresses software and hardware developers of any kind and level of experience. Also, other specialists such as user experience designers are encouraged to participate. However, be sure to have at least one developer on your team since you will have to present a functional prototype at the end of the event.
Participants are individuals who are interested in IoT and the applications of IoT as well as companies who offer products or services of relevance for the IoT domain. Start-ups and SMEs, in particular, are welcome to participate.
A serie of webinars is being organised for people to get accustomed to proposed platforms:
