The Wise-IoT consortium recently organised a two-day Hackathon, titled IoT4Tourism, in conjunction with the leading consumer fair IFA and the IEEE ICCE conference. The event was held between 3-4 September 2017 at the just concluded IEEE ICCCE conference in Berlin, Germany.  The two-day event drew developers from various countries into a team of designers and IoT engineers from WISE-IoT consortium to explore how IoT can be exploited to enhance the experience of tourists in cities, resorts and events.

In this regard, the IoT4Tourism Hackathon provided the developers with the WISE-IoT platform to create innovative and impressive applications. Developers used the Wise-IoT platform that allows Global IoT Connectivity across IoT standards and IoT deployments to connect their applications through oneM2M and/or FIWARE. The connections to data and devices, be it their own devices or third-party devices, were through FIWARE and/or oneM2M

Among the participating teams of developers, three teams were adjudged best by a panel of judges comprising Hyokeun Choi of Samsung SDS, South Korea, Prof. Dr. Jaeseung Song, of Sejong University, also from South Korea and Dr Franck Le Gall of Easy Global Market, France.

The teams were awarded cash prices for using Wise-IoT tools to create innovative applications based on impressive user experience, effective use of Wise-IoT data and simplicity and elegance of the applications.
